Leica T Camera & Lenses

08th May 2014
This is a revolutionary camera and in my opinion points or at least should point the way for the future. Both of Leica and of their products.

Machined from a solid block of aluminium - unibody construction a la Apple Macbooks - and with a completely touchscreen interface except for two plain serrated edge wheels set into the top RH edge which provide scrolling functions, this is completely different to the expectations that were rumoured in the lead-up to the announcement.

It's a really beautiful looking camera, and to fully appreciate it you have to handle it - it just feels right!

To fit the new T-mount, there will be two AF lenses at launch, with more to come. A 23mm f2 ASPH prime and an 18-56mm f3.5 - f5.6 ASPH zoom. No word on more primes, but then Leica have always been secretive.
In the pipeline though are two more zoom AF lenses to cover both wide and tele ranges. There will be an M-mount adapter and there is a new EVF (Visoflex) with included GPS, together with various cases and straps.

Now as you all know I work part-time at Red Dot Cameras so I have had a chance to play around with it and have used it in the wild, so to speak.
Suffice to say I have put my marker down for one.

My two big questions are what to do with my X Vario, and should I get the silver body T which will be out end of this month, or wait for the black body until around end of July?

More to follow... !
